FEMA sets up at Boca Raton Community Hospital
Friday, November 04, 2005 -

The 400-bed hospital said FEMA has erected the tented field hospital to attend to primary care needs such as lacerations, gastrointestinal upset and other non-medical emergencies.

The DMAT is staffed by doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, paramedics and other health care professionals, Boca Raton Community Hospital said.

Area residents can visit the DMAT, located directly across from the hospital's emergency department, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

People with medical emergencies should continue to call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Richard Van Lith, Boca Raton Community Hospital chief operating officer, said because many physicians offices have not yet opened, the DMAT will provide area residents with an opportunity to have minor health issues addressed before they escalate into emergencies.
